Completely restored. Restored and like brand new including the store tag. This waffle iron was made in the 1930s and was called GE's "Castle Gate" line. The model type was made from 30's to the 40's with wood or plastic handles. This one is plastic so most likely made in 1939. It was never made during the war or afterwards. Holds its temperature very nicely. This is a very, very well constructed iron as were all GE products. A built in tray to catch overflows.
Very hard to find one in this condition, they were used a lot. No coating on the plates, pure cast hard aluminum. It makes a beautiful waffle about 1/4 inch deep and 4 1/2 x 5 inches. Perfect toaster size.
"Bake" on the indicators (a needle moves to tell you what the temperature is) varies by side but runs 356 degrees at "BAKE" to 415 at the top end. A real honey of an iron, well engineered and well made. Makes 4 1/2 x 5 inch "square" waffles. 115 VAC, 660 watts. Comes with original style cloth cord which is a GE make and thoroughly tested and good to use. Heaters are spring wound. Feet are good quality heavy plastic. Made in Bridgeport, Connecticut.
Its 14 inches from handle to handle, 4 1/2 inches tall and 8 1/2 inches width. Full instructions for conditioning the plates and recipes sent with the unit. I include recipes and care and use instructions. On this one I also have the original "52 Recipes" by GE for 52 Sunday dinners using the waffle iron!!!

Is it safe?
It will be as safe or safer than the original manufacturer when it was made. Many times it is safer since I remove and replace asbestos wiring and unsafe cords. Note: There are some items I no longer refurbish because they cannot be made safe. I check every item for stray voltage and many times it is too high so that unit is scrapped.
What does Restored and Rebuilt Mean?
It means its been re-wired with modern high heat resistant wire, thermostats re-set, gunk, grease, stains have been removed. Restored to original factory specifications. Cords and wiring safe. All components checked for safety. Everything back to very good to mint condition nothing less.
