Completely refurbished, re-wired and restored to like new condition. Beautiful condition. This is a very special iron that was way ahead of its time. It was not easy to refurbish; a very sophisticated piece. The top handle was cracked and I fixed it and put in another screw to help but it of course still shows.
1939 and Westinghouse was way ahead of the times with this really lovely "Low Boy" style waffle iron which they made in their brand new plant in Mansfield, Ohio. Special heaters developed for this iron allows it to be low and sleek. Just as appropriate today as back then. Extremely well engineered and innovative. They did not skimp on the internals either, very well made, easy to use. Plates are hardened aluminum that heat nicely (and quickly) and hold heat perfect. Brown accent handles from phenolic plastic ("Bakelite") protect you from burns and the extra long top handle is very nice, keeping your fingers away from the heat.
Makes a 7 inch waffle, 1/4 inch top/bottom. Heats to 390 degrees F in 3 1/2 minutes. No thermostat so you must keep cooking. Standard 1/2 inch C-C cord set (I include a new 6 ft. one). Very, very nice iron which looks good and bakes perfect. 600 watts, 11 1/2 inch by 10 inch overall. 3 inches high. 7 inch waffle. Hardened Aluminum non-coated plates, chromed steel, Bakelite handles. All directions and instructions including some recipes are included.

Is it safe?
It will be as safe or safer than the original manufacturer when it was made. Many times it is safer since I remove and replace asbestos wiring and unsafe cords. Note: There are some items I no longer refurbish because they cannot be made safe. I check every item for stray voltage and many times it is too high so that unit is scrapped.
What does Restored and Rebuilt Mean?
It means its been re-wired with modern high heat resistant wire, thermostats re-set, gunk, grease, stains have been removed. Restored to original factory specifications. Cords and wiring safe. All components checked for safety. Everything back to very good to mint condition nothing less.
